Frequently asked Questions

FAQ

What File Types Can I Upload to Print420?

We accept a variety of file formats to ensure your designs are print-ready. Supported file types include:

  • Photoshop: PSD, TIFF, EPS, PDF, JPEG, PNG, SVG
  • Illustrator: AI, EPS, PDF (ensure all fonts are outlined)
  • Other graphic programs: Any software capable of exporting PDF, TIFF, EPS, JPEG, or PNG files

What Resolution Should My Files Be?

For the best print quality, we recommend:

  • Standard Prints: 300 dpi at full scale
  • Large-Format Prints (e.g., Vinyl Banners, Billboards): 150 dpi at full scale

What Color Mode Should I Use?

To achieve the most accurate color results:

  • Color artwork: Submit files in CMYK (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Black)
  • Black & white artwork: Use Grayscale
  • If you have specific colors that need to be matched, mention them in the "Additional Comments" section when placing your order.

How Do I Set Up Bleeds?

Bleeds ensure your design extends to the edge without unwanted white borders. Include a 1/8" (.125") bleed on all sides.
For example, if you're printing a 36" x 96" Vinyl Banner, your final file size with bleeds should be 36.25" x 96.25".

What Are Bleeds & Why Do They Matter?

A bleed extends the design beyond the trim edge of your print. This prevents unwanted white margins due to slight shifts during cutting. Full-bleed prints look more polished and professional.

Should I Include Crop Marks?

Yes! Crop marks indicate where the print should be trimmed, ensuring precise cutting.

What Should I Do with Fonts?

  • Convert all fonts to outlines when possible.
  • If outlining isn't an option, include the font files with your artwork.
  • PDF files must have embedded fonts to avoid font substitution issues.

What Is a Safe Zone?

Keep all essential text and images at least 1/8" (.125") inside the trim line to prevent anything important from being cut off.

Can I Use Borders in My Design?

Borders are not recommended, but if you choose to include one, allow at least 1/16" of cutting space around it to maintain an even appearance.

Where Can I Track My Order?

Check your order status anytime by logging into your customer dashboard and clicking on the Orders tab.

What Type of Inks Does Print420 Use?

We use high-quality four-color inks (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Black) with various printing methods, including:

  • Eco-Solvent
  • Dye Sublimation
  • UV Printing
  • Water-Based Inks

Can I Request Spot Colors?

Yes! You can include spot colors in your artwork for precise color matching in CMYK printing.

How Should I Prepare My Files for Printing?

Make sure to add a .125" bleed on all sides of your artwork before submitting it.

Can I Cancel or Modify My Order?

We allow cancellations or changes within 30 minutes of placing your order—provided it hasn’t entered production. Orders already in production may be subject to administrative or labor fees.
